The Levant’s Scholars’ Union has condemned the burning of holy Quran copies by far-right extremist groups in Sweden, stressing that it is a disgraceful act that comes within the framework of the frantic hostility campaigns towards Moslems and their holy book.
In a statement on Friday, the Union said “this disgraceful act indicates the west’s hatred towards Quran, Prophet Muhammad and Moslems. It is part of the violations against Islam which included offensive cartoons, sarcastic films, racist statements, the desecration of Islamic sanctities and the storming of worshiping places, as the Zionists are currently doing in Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied al-Quds”.
“Such repeated abuses and criminal acts during the holy month of Ramadan reveal to the world that the West’s claims about freedom of speech are nothing but lies whose benefit stops when they don’t serve its interests and evil goals,” the union added.
It asserted that the deep-rooted truth, which is kept inside the hearts of all believers, is that God is the protector of the Holy Quran, pointing out the fire the extremists set to the Quran copies will greaten the Moslems’ faith in and respect for their holy book.
