British Writer Criticizes UK’s Government over Decision to Welcome “White Helmets” Members

LONDON, (ST)- British writer and journalist Peter Hitchens says that the UK’s government and a number of other western countries have hurried to smuggle members of the so-called “White Helmets” group from Syria’s southern region despite the close connection linking between this group and terrorist organizations in Syria including Jabhat al-Nusra. He stresses that this move raise a big question, particularly in the in the light of Britain’s decision to welcome and settle a number of the White Helmets members.

In the past few days, the Israeli enemy carried out a “secret night operation” to smuggle some 800 members of what is called “white Helmets” and their families from an area in the south of Syria in preparation to transfer them to Jordan where they are to be moved to a number of western countries.

In an articles published by UK’s The Daily Mail newspaper on Sunday, Hitchens noted the mystery which folded the smuggling process in an area where terrorists have positions. He said that the White Helmets members have been transferred by the Israeli entity into the occupied Palestinian lands so as to help them move to Jordan.

“Why, then, is the British Government seriously considering welcoming into this country an unknown number of men who have been – I put this at its mildest – closely associated for several years with an armed faction linked to Al Qaeda, or with others perhaps even worse?” he asked.

The British writer went on to say that according to the British Foreign Office (FO), and many others, “the ‘White Helmets’ are the good guys.”

Britain and its allies in Europe like the “White Helmets” so much that they have so far spent £38.4million of the British tax payers’ money on supporting them, he made it clear.

“The FO is in a mess over this. It has for years been backing the Islamist rebels [terrorists] against the Syrian government, a policy which involves supporting exactly the sort of people we would arrest if we found them in Birmingham,” Hitchens said.
