British analyst to ST: We Live in a World That is Governed not by Law but by American Aggression

The British political analyst Dr. Marcus Papadopoulos believes that Washington and London are playing the tactic of good cop/bad cop concerning the occupied Syrian Golan in order to strengthen their pivotal ally, Israel, and thereby enhance their own influence in the Middle East.

In addition to that, Dr Papadopoulos, who is the founder and editor of Politics First magazine, asserts that the matter of Israel and the occupied Palestinian lands represents a serious challenge to Washington and London’s claim to adhere to and defend international law, especially the United Nations Charter.

“Donald Trump’s decision to recognize the occupied Golan as sovereign Israeli territory, which has no basis under international law and is a gross violation of the UN Charter as well as Syria’s territorial sovereignty, will have been discussed by Washington with London before the decision was made public.  And it goes without saying that Mr.

Trump would have been told by his legal experts that recognizing the occupied Golan as part of Israel is illegal; but since when has American cared for legality?”, the analyst told the Syria Times e-newspaper.

Dr Papadopoulos went on to say that: “The truth is that for American politicians – conservative and liberal, alike – might is right, and Israel is America’s eye and ears in the Eastern Mediterranean, North Africa and the Middle East hence Israel must continue to be strengthened by the US.  But also Mr. Trump owes a great deal to Israel, especially Netanyahu, for the support that it gave to his presidential campaign in 2016, so the American president is now repaying the Israelis – first, by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and now, by recognizing the occupied Golan as Israeli territory.”

Americans provide the muscle and the British provide the brains

Turning to London, Dr. Papadopoulos averred that the British will be privately supporting Mr. Trump’s decision concerning the occupied Golan because Israel is also a crucial friend and ally to the UK.

“However, the British are more attentive, than the Americans, to maintaining the facade that the West defends international law.  And so that constitutes a factor behind Britain, for the moment, not recognizing the occupied Golan as part of Israel.  I have long contended that in pursuing the West’s geopolitical ambitions, the Americans provide the muscle and the British provide the brains”, he said.

‘The tactic of good cop/bad cop’

Dr Papadopoulos described the tactic being played by Washington and London regarding the occupied Syrian Golan as ‘the tactic of good cop/bad cop’.

“By employing that tactic, Washington and London are strengthening their pivotal ally, Israel, and thereby enhancing their own influence in the Middle East, and simultaneously can say to the world that the West is defending international law because the UK will not recognize the occupied Golan as part of Israel.  It is a clever and contrived tactic but, of course, it is not lost on someone who sees through American and British smokescreens”, Dr. Papadopoulos said.

He made it clear that America and Britain constitute the nucleus of what is known as the West, and both countries purport to be defenders of democracy, freedom and international law.  However, the matter of Israel and the occupied Palestinian lands represents a serious challenge to Washington and London’s claim to adhere to and defend international law, especially the United Nations Charter.  Because Israel has been in violation of the UN Charter for over five decades now and is in breach of countless UN resolutions.

Moreover, Dr Papadopoulos underlined that America is a rogue on the international stage and will stop at nothing to strengthen its influence and power across the world.

“Let us not forget that the Americans engineered the so-called independence of the Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija and created the illegal entity known today as the ‘Republic of Kosovo’.  That appalling act of American aggression against Serbia’s territorial sovereignty was as devastating to the UN Charter as is the American decision to recognize the occupied Golan as Israeli territory.  Sadly, we live in a world that is governed not by law but by American aggression”, Dr. Papadopoulos lamented.

Golan is Syrian soil and always will be

Dr Papadopoulos pointed out that the purpose of illegal decisions adopted by successive US administrations is to directly augment US global power, or to indirectly enhance America’s influence in the world.

“American presidents take decisions in order to directly augment US global power, such as the bombing of Serbia or the invasion of Iraq, or indirectly enhance America’s influence in the world, such as recognizing the occupied Golan as part of Israel.  Whilst those decisions by the US are completely illegal, not to say depraved, they do, nonetheless, increase Washington’s clout internationally”, the analyst stressed.

Dr Papadopoulos concluded by saying that: “One day, justice will be served to America.  As history demonstrates, no empire survives forever – and the American one will not be an exception to this.  Good will always prevail over evil.  And I will always serve international law hence why I say that the Golan is Syrian soil and always will be and that Kosovo and Metohija is Serbian soil and always will be.”
