BRICS Forum President: Russia can bypass the consequences of Western sanctions

On August 25th, the President of the BRICS International Forum, Purnima Anand, considered that the possibility of Russia bypassing the consequences of Western sanctions has become real, due to the openness of the BRICS countries to it.

According to RIA Novosti, Anand, who is heading India’s delegation to the Russian Technoprom Forum, said: “A mechanism for reciprocal settlements in rubles and rupees has been used, and there is no longer a need to use the dollar in reciprocal settlements between Russia and India”

“BRICS is opening up to Russia, which means an opportunity appears for Russia to overcome the consequences of sanctions,” she said.

She stated that over the past forty years, import and export transactions between India and Russia have grown five times, and that the Russian side today supplies India with large quantities of oil and imports a large amount of agricultural products, textiles, medicines and others.

She pointed out that when the special military operation in Ukraine began, India was pressured to stop importing Russian oil, but the Indian side rejected these pressures and stressed that importing Russian oil would not stop.

She noted that her country, despite the presence of international sanctions against Moscow, continued its fruitful cooperation with it in all domains.
