DAMASCUS, (ST)- A Brazilian parliamentary delegation is on a visit to Syria for talks on enhancing bilateral ties and to know the reality of events in the country.
Member of the Brazilian Parliament for the Workers’ Party Arlindo Chinaglia, who leads the guest delegation, said in a statement to reporters upon arrival at the Yabous Crossing at the Syrian-Lebanese borders that the delegation will be briefed on the reality of events in Syria as to convey a true image about the situation in the country to the Brazilian people and the public opinion. He expressed hope that Syria will heal and the crisis will end soon.
The Charge de Affairs of the Brazilian Embassy in Damascus Achilles Zaluar, on his part, said that the Syrian-Brazilian relations are strong and deep, affirming his country’s support for Syria’s territorial integrity and independent decision.
Zaluar expressed hope that the terrorist war on Syria will end and the situation will get better, asserting the Brazilian people’s solidarity with the Syrians in the face of the ongoing crisis.
Head of the Syrian-Brazilian Friendship Society at the Syrian People’s Assembly Bashar Yazigi said the visit of the Brazilian parliamentary delegation to Syria is a new step towards boosting relations between the two countries.
The guest delegation comprises MPs representing several political parties in Brazil.
