Borrell: Israel must adhere to international law and not invade Rafah

Brussels-(ST)- European Union Foreign Affairs Commissioner Josep Borrell stressed that the Israeli occupation entity must adhere to the principles of international law, guarantee the safety of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip and prevent them from being forced to leave Rafah.

In his account on the “X” platform, Borrell called on the Israeli occupation to refrain from storming Rafah, warning of the consequences of such an attack on civilians.

Borrell said: “Forcing civilians to evacuate Rafah to unsafe areas is unacceptable, and Israel must abide by international law to ensure the safety of civilians,” explaining that such a matter would cause a major humanitarian crisis.

The United Nations confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces are effectively preventing the delivery of international humanitarian aid to affected civilians in the Gaza Strip.
