Boroujerdi: Washington’s Training of So-called “Moderate Opposition” Strategic Mistake
DAMASCUS, (ST)-“Our support for the Syrian people and government is firm and permanent and we are proud of this support, Chairman of the Iranian Security and Foreign Policy Commission in the Iranian Shura Council (parliament) Alauddin Boroujerdi announced in a press conference in Damascus on Thursday, following his talks with senior Syrian officials.
“We are confident that the Syrian people will defeat the terrorist aggression thanks to their awareness and to the steadfastness of the Syrian army,” Boroujerdi said.
He added that some countries in the region, including Qatar and Turkey have become tools to implement the American and Zionist schemes in the Middle East and from the very beginning they were supporters for ISIS and al-Nousra Front terrorist organizations. He also noted that Saudi Arabia has become the source of aggression and criminality against the Islamic nation and the Arab world.
“The countries which are spending billions of dollars to fight Syria are the same countries which have fought Iran through promoting lies and waging a psychological war against the Iranian people,” the Iranian official said, pointing out that such fabrications are now targeting the Syrian people, but all know that the Syrians are intelligent enough to refuse such lies.
On cooperation with Syria, Boroujerdi stressed that there are no limits or restrictions on Iran’s cooperation with the Syrian state, because the front of resistance, of which Syria is the center, is unified against all circumstances.
“Iran has supported Syria despite all forms of embargo and boycott imposed on the country, because Syria represents the axis of resistance,” he said.

Boroujerdi pointed out that Washington’s training of what it calls “moderate opposition” is a strategic mistake committed by the U.S. and its allies in the West after they sent thousands of western nationals to Syria to join the terrorists.
He asserted that “there is no good terrorist or bad terrorist…terrorism is terrorism wherever it exists.”
Al-Halqi: Syria Keen on Iran’s Participation in Reconstruction Process
Earlier, Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi met Boroujerdi and discussed with him means of enhancing Syrian-Iranian economic cooperation through reactivating the signed agreements and through signing new agreements.
Al-Halqi stressed the Syrian government’s keenness on the Iranian companies’ participation in the reconstruction process in Syria and on the expansion of economic, industrial, trade, medical and media cooperation with Iran.
On his part, Boroujerdi reiterated that Iran is keen on boosting bilateral ties in all domains and on meeting the Syrian people’s needs to enhance their steadfastness in the face of the ongoing terrorist war.
Al-Moallem: Syrian army, people showed meaning of having Strong will to defeat terrorism
Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Waleed al-Moallem also held talks with Boroujerdi on developments in Syria and the region and on the media misinformation campaigns which aim to disrupt the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army and people against terrorism.
The talks also dealt with the escalating terrorist threats which seek destabilizing the region, disseminating chaos and damaging people’s interests.
Al-Moallem stressed that the Syrian people and army have clearly expressed the meaning of having a solid and strong will to defeat terrorism and its supporters.
He highly appreciated Iran’s firm support for Syria in defense of the integrity of its lands and the interests of its people.
On his part, Boroujerdi said the fraternal relations between the peoples and leaderships of Syria and Iran are strong enough that all enemies’ conspiracies can’t affect them.
