DAMASCUS, (ST) – Alauddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of the Iranian Security and Foreign Policy Commission in the Iranian Shura Council (parliament), has stressed that big part of the war on Syria is the psychological warfare.
Boroujerdi’s remarks came during his meeting on Wednesday in Damascus with Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham.
The Iranian official said his visit to Syria aims to speak loudly against media fabrications and misinformation campaigns and to confirm that Iran will continue to stand by the Syrian people and government.
Boroujerdi hailed the Syrian Arab Army’s steadfastness in the city of Jisr al-Shugour, stressing that right always triumphs over falsehood.
He reiterated that most of the pressure put on Iran regarding the nuclear file comes from Israel and Saudi Arabia which adopts the policy of the Zionist entity, the enemy of the Arab and Islamic nations.
Al-Lahham: Syrian-Iranian ties will continue to be an element of stability in the region
On his part, al-Lahham said the Syrian-Iranian ties “will continue to be an element of stability in the region and a guarantee to maintain peoples’ right against western domination schemes.”
He added that “fighting terrorism and extremism in the region needs joint regional and international efforts and true will by all to eliminate terrorism.”
He pointed out that the Saudi-led war on Yemen is not separated from the war being waged on Syria and Iraq, because it is part of a plan to spread, terrorism, chaos and division in the region.
“It is time to adopt a decisive stance on the assassins of civilizations, history and mankind,” al-Lahham said.
Following the meeting, Boroujerdi replied a question by SANA reporter on how Iran evaluates its being invited to Geneva consultations. He said they wanted not to repeat the mistake they committed in Geneva I and Geneva II.
He added “Our policy depends on solving the crisis in Syria through inter-Syrian dialogue and by the Syrians themselves away from foreign interference, so the countries which keep claiming they support democracy should leave the Syrian people decide their future themselves.”

Boroujerdi: Iran will keep supporting Syria against Terrorism
In a statement to SANA upon leaving Tehran to Damascus, Boroujerdi reiterated his country’s complete support for Syrian in the confrontation of terrorism and the takfiri terrorists who pose serious threat to the region and the entire world.
He said “our visit to Syria comes as we feel great responsibility towards helping the Syrian people withstand the ongoing terrorist takfiri war and to strongly express our full support to Syria and our complete rejection of the western and Zionist-American schemes against the region.”
He affirmed that Syria will triumph and the Syrian people will successfully emerge from the crisis.
The guest official pointed out that the United States and the Western countries’ immoral behavior of supporting terrorism in the region will have grave impacts on them, noting that now these countries are afraid of the return of their nationals, who got involved in fighting in Syria, to their homelands.
