Bogdanov: Russia Preparing for Serious Talks between Syrian Government, Opposition

TEHRAN (ST) – The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister stated that his country is preparing to host serious talks between the Syrian government and opposition.

Bogdanov’s remarks were delivered during his visits to the Lebanese senior officials, AFP reported.

Lebanese Foreign and Expatriates Minister Gibran Bassil met on Friday with Deputy Foreign Minister and the Russian president’s envoy to the Middle East, Mikhail Bogdanov, who refused to comment on any efforts by his administration regarding Lebanese presidential elections, dubbing the entire matter “a secret.”

Bogdanov lauded bilateral ties between Russia and Lebanon.

“The political dialogue between us is based on mutual trust and active participation between Russian and Lebanese foreign ministers…and we endeavor for further communication with our Lebanese friends,” said Bogdanov.
