Bogdanov: Presence of US troops in Syria illegal

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov has stressed that the Astana format continues to be the most effective means to solve the crisis in Syria.

He made the remarks on Monday during the 11th Middle East Conference of Valdai Discussion Club.

“The presence of the US troops in Syria is illegal and it is clear that their battle there is not against terrorism,” Bogdanov said.

During the conference, Bogdanov submitted a report on Russia’s agenda concerning the Middle East for the year 2022 and on Moscow’s priorities.
