The Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov and the Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad discussed during a meeting on Friday the situation in Syria and its vicinity.

Bogdanov-Haddad meeting focused on the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva as well as the Russian-Syrian cooperation regarding the post-crisis reconstruction process in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added that the Syrian side renewed its firm commitment to Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and its readiness to continue helping the Syrian people to confront international terrorism.

Two days ago, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated that any political solution to the crisis in Syria should be based on respecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the Syrian people’s right to determine the future of their country without foreign interference.
