Bogdanov ,EU Official Discussed Ways to Solve Syria Crisis

MOSCOW, (ST)_ Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and African countries, and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed  in Moscow yesterday  head of the EU delegation  in Russia Vegaodas Ouchetskas ways of resolving the crisis in Syria.

” Middle Eastern issues, especially settling  the situation in Syria was at the center of discussions” between Bogdanov and Ouchetskas, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“The two sides exchanged views on current issues in the Middle East, focusing  on the political settlement of issues pertinent to the  conflict in Syria , and the Russian initiative to convene an advisory contacts among  the Syrians by the end of this  January in Moscow to prepare for a comprehensive dialogue between the Syrian government and opposition on the ground of Geneva statement issued in 2012, “, the statement added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bogdanov  discussed in Moscow with head of the political section at the British foreign office Simon Gess  means to  find a political solution to the crisis in Syria and the fight against terrorism posed by Daesh terrorist organization.  

Bogdanov repeatedly stressed  the Russian positions  towards resolving the crisis in Syria politically adding  that ” priorities of the Russian initiative are based on Russia’s firm stand to that  the solution in Syria is political and through inter- Syrian  dialogue at  the will of the Syrians on the ground of the state legitimacy and term of  reference.
