Bogdanov confirms holding a meeting within the Astana format on Syria before the end of this year

Moscow (ST)-The Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, announced that a new meeting within the Astana format on Syria will be held before the end of this year.

TASS quoted Bogdanov as saying in a statement on Wednesday:” The meeting will definitely be held. There were initial agreements regarding the final dates for holding it, but we postponed it for some time due to changes in the official agendas. However, I believe that the meeting will definitely be held before the end of this year”, he added.

The 21st international meeting on Syria under the Astana format was launched in the Kazakh capital on January 24, where its final statement included in its first item an emphasis on respecting Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity.
