Bogdanov: 14th Astana meeting on Syria will focus on the commitment of all concerned parties to their obligations
MOSCOW, (ST)- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov said in a statement to Sputnik on Monday that the agenda of the 14th Astana meeting on Syria, which is due to start tomorrow in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan, will include a general overview of the situation on the ground and will discuss to what extent the concerned parties have been committed to their obligations pursuant to the Agreements reached.

In Nur-Sultan, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry stressed on Monday that all parties to Astana process on Syria will take part in the 14th round of Astana talks due to start on Tuesday in the Kazakh Capital Nur-Sultan.
Spokesman of the ministry Aibek Smadiyarov said in a press conference on Monday that the UN delegation led by the UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen will take part as an observer and that all the parties concerned have confirmed their participation in the 14th round of talks.
Smadiyarov pointed out that the delegation of the guarantor states (Russia, Iran and Turkey) and the delegations representing the Syrian government and the “opposition” will also participate in the talks.
Alexander Lavrentiev is to lead the Russian delegation , while the Iranian delegation will be led by Hussein Jaberi Ansari, the first assistance of the Iranian Foreign Minister for political affairs.
Representatives of the guarantor states will hold bilateral and trilateral consultations at the experts level. A plenary session is scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
