With the US administration continuing its escalatory moves against Russia, the statements of the US Secretaries of State and Defense, Anthony Blinken and Lloyd Austin, revealed the real role that Washington plays in fueling the situation in Ukraine and exposed the extent of US involvement in the crisis in this country.
Blinken and Austin, who traveled to Ukraine yesterday on a visit that reflects Washington’s insistence on moving forward with a method of pouring oil on the fire and prolonging the crisis, admitted, as the World Socialist news website said, that the United States was directly involved in the Ukrainian crisis and played a role in it. Blinkin and Austin statements reveal that Joe Biden is leading the United States, Ukraine and the world toward a path of all-out war.
The site saw that prominent US officials exposed, for the first time since the start of the crisis in Ukraine, Washington’s main goal of confrontation and fighting against Russia, despite Biden’s repeated attempts to deny this goal and his claim that the United States and NATO have no intention of direct confrontation with Moscow.
Despite the direct effects of Washington’s policies with regard to fueling the Ukrainian crisis and escalating the situation, the Biden administration tried from the beginning to hide the facts from the Americans, as the site indicated, and there was no public discussion of the repercussions of US policies on Ukraine and the risks posed by Washington’s escalatory practices in this regard, including the continued pumping of weapons and ammunition to Kyiv.
American media revealed a few days ago that Washington is in the process of approving a new package of military aid to Ukraine worth $800 million, less than a week after announcing a similar package of the same value, at a time when Russia confirms that the weapons shipped by the West, and especially by the United States, to Ukraine does not contribute to finding a diplomatic solution and settling the crisis there, but rather pushes towards increasing risks and exacerbating the situation.
Russia’s ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, stressed, in this context, that Washington’s behavior reflects its desire to prolong the Russian special military operation to protect Donbass by any means in an attempt to inflict maximum damage on Russia and fight to the last Ukrainian, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that the United States and Britain are pressing on the Ukrainian authorities to prolong negotiations with Moscow. Lavrov stressed the need not to underestimate the seriousness of the Ukrainian crisis, saying: Not accepting a nuclear war is Moscow’s principled position, but the danger of that should not be underestimated.
