Blind Terrorism Hits Damascus Again

 DAMASCUS, (ST) – A series of terrorist explosions on Thursday hit different areas in Damascus claiming the lives of scores of innocent people and causing heavy material damage.

One of the terrorist blasts targeted al-Thawra Street near al-Mazraa neighborhood. More than 53 people were martyred and 235 wounded in a preliminary toll of the explosion. Children and school students were among the victims. Heavy material damages were also caused to the buildings surrounding the explosion site.

SANA reporter said that the terrorist blast took place in a heavily populated area and at a crossroad. It claimed the lives of innocent civilians mostly passersby, car drivers, children and school students. A huge fire broke out in many cars in the targeted area.

The reporter added the security systems seized a car loaded with barrels of explosives at the blast site and arrested the suicide bomber who was driving it.

A source at the Damascus and the RedCrescentHospitals said that dead bodies of tens of martyrs and scores of wounded people arrived at the two hospitals.
