Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has ruled out making a move for unsettled Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
Rooney’s future at United has been the subject of widespread speculation this summer with the England international left feeling ‘angry and confused’ by his treatment by United.
Chelsea are thought to be leading the race to sign Rooney with the London club already seeing one bid rejected for the player.
United manager David Moyes has reiterated that he has no plans to sell Rooney after rejecting Chelsea’s overtures for the 27-year-old.
Big-spending PSG have been mentioned as possible contenders to sign Rooney, but former United defender Blanc insists they have no plans to move for Rooney as they have enough options up front following the arrival of Edinson Cavani from Napoli.
“He is an amazing player, his qualities are well known by everyone,” Blanc told reporters. “But in attack we are well supplied.
“We will rather look for players in midfield. If there should be another reinforcement, it should be in that position.
“Rooney could play anywhere, but his best position is in the heart of attack.”
