Bishop Mansour Calls for Prayer for Peace in Syria, the World

SAO PAULO, (ST) _ Bishop of San Paulo, and Pan Greek –Orthodox Church in Brazil Damaskeynos Mansour called for prayers and supplication to God Almighty for restoring security and just peace throughout the world, especially in beloved Syria, the land of divine messages and successive civilizations since millions of years ago.

During the celebratory Mass, he presided over yesterday on the occasion of the glorious Easter in Sao Paulo Cathedral for the Greek-Orthodox church Bishop Mansour said “As we live today the joy of the Resurrection, we pray for the demise of this black cloud from the Syrian sky and its people regardless of their sects, who suffer injustice and all sorts of tragedies caused by the global arrogance “.

Bishop Mansour also called for ending all acts of violence, murder, persecution and kidnappings imported from abroad and perpetrated by terrorist organizations in “our beloved Syria.”

Bishop Mansour called for releasing all kidnapped, especially the two Bishops who were abducted by the terrorist organizations in Aleppo countryside, Paul Yazigi Metropolitan of Aleppo and Iskenderun and its Surroundings for the Greek- Orthodox church and John Abraham Metropolitan of Aleppo for the Syriac Orthodox Church.

He stressed that steadfastness and sacrifice are the source of strength and victory of the Syrian people over all the conspirators against the homeland.

The mass was attended by a large audience, representing the Syrian and Lebanese communities in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and many parliamentary, diplomatic and religious figures in Brazi,l with the participation of the Syrian Consulate.
