Bishop Hanna to SANA: The West claims to defend human rights and ignores this when it comes to the Palestinian people

Bishop Atallah Hanna, Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia, called on the international community to halt the barbaric Israeli aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip

Bishop Hanna pointed out that the West, which claims to defend human rights, does not respect anything it calls for when it comes to the Palestinian people.

Bishop Hanna said in a statement to SANA today: With the passage of 37 days since the barbaric aggression against our people in Gaza, we send a warm appeal to the religious, legal, international and humanitarian authorities for the necessity of working to stop this aggression, which has become more brutal, more ferocious and targets innocent people.”

Bishop Hanna said that what is happening in Gaza confirms that the West, which claims to defend human rights and freedoms, does not respect anything that it calls for and ignores it when it comes to the defenseless Palestinian people.

Bishop Hanna pointed out that Western countries, led by the United States, provide the occupation with missiles and missiles that bomb homes, hospitals, and places of worship in the Gaza Strip. This has led to a large number of martyrs and the destruction of 50 percent of Gaza, leaving many human tragedies

Bishop Hanna explained that Palestine today  is subjected to a new catastrophe and a systematic policy of ethnic cleansing

Bishop Hanna called on religious and legal authorities and all free people in the world to put pressure on the rulers of the West, especially the United States, Britain and other countries, in order to stop their support for the occupation and stop its aggression against the Palestinian people

Bishop Hanna noted that all free persons in the world who have human and moral values cannot accept being  spectators to these horrific massacres against humanity.

Bishop Hanna said: Enough of the destruction… Enough of the devastation… Enough of the pain and sorrow… Our martyrs are not numbers, and these horrific pictures in Gaza are not routine scenes and they should not turn into that.”

Bishop Hanna stressed that what is happening there indicates the lack of human and moral values among the rulers of the West that bear responsibility for all the massacres and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in occupied Palestine.
