Billiards and Snooker Team to Take Part in Asia Championship

DAMASCUS,(ST)-The U-21 billiards and snooker team are due to leave soon  for India to take part in the Asia Snooker Championship.

The event runs from 4 through 10 April.

Before leaving for India, the national team are currently holding an –indoor training camp at the Faiha sports complex  in Damascus.

To cast some light on the team’s camp,a local daily interviewed the team’s coach Ziad al-Sayed who said: “in order to qualify the players properly, I  have increased the number of training sessions,”.

The two players who will represent Syria in the said event are:Murad Ghareeb and Yacoub Hamoud.

Meanwhile, the men’s national team are set to leave soon for Tehran to hold a training camp.

The camp is part of the team’s preparation for taking part in the Asia Championship which will be staged in the UAE on April 26.

The team includes :Omar Qouja, Karam Fatima, Anas Marzouki and haitham Khalil.

It is to be noted that the above mentioned players are those who came first in the National Championship which was concluded recently in Damascus.
