Biden’s statements against Putin strain relations and Biden must apologize, Russian politician says

Biden had said in an interview broadcast by ABC News on Wednesday that Putin will “pay the price” for what Washington claims about Russian efforts to influence the recent US presidential elections in favor of Donald Trump. Biden also answered with “yes” to the presenter’s question about whether he believed that Putin is a “killer”.

In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the Russian ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, had been summoned to Moscow to consult and assess the prospects for relations with Washington.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosacheov announced that US President Joe Biden’s statements against Russian President Vladimir Putin would strain relations between the two countries, noting that summoning Moscow’s ambassador to Washington for consultations would not be the last step if the United States did not explain these statements and apologize for them.

“Such assessments issued by Biden are unacceptable and lead to tension in Russian-American relations,” Kosacheov wrote on his Facebook page today, according to Russia Today.

“Moscow’s summoning its ambassador to Washington for consultations is a swift, sufficient and correct response in such a case. I think that it will not be the last reaction if the American side does not provide explanations about Biden’s statements and does not apologize for them.” he added,

He pointed out that the United States “according to expert opinion, drops a bomb anywhere in the world every 12 minutes,” calling on Biden to comment on that.
