Washington (ST): Former US Vice President and the Democratic Party candidate for the forthcoming presidency Joe Biden called for easing the US sanctions imposed on Iran to alleviate the difficulties facing Tehran in confronting Corona virus.
France Press Agency quoted a statement released by Biden as saying that the US has to create a network for banks and companies to work in Iran in addition to issuing licenses that enable Tehran to buy medicine and medical equipment.
He added that the policy of maximum pressure pursued by President Trump against Iran yielded adverse consequences, noting that it is meaningless, in light of the international health crisis, to gather between failure and cruelty through preventing the arrival of the required humanitarian aid.
Earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the US illegitimate blockade on Iran amid the spread of Corona virus disclosed the foolishness of the US administration, because it is a global pandemic and all world countries should unify to curb it.
