Biased reports, main reason behind prolonging crisis

It is an established fact that one of the main factors that caused the prolonging of the crisis in Syria and the absence of the political solution is the biased and incomplete UN reports that lack credibility and ignore facts on the ground.  Throughout the past three years, the reports submitted by the UN and its affiliated bodies concerning Syria have been full of fallacies and bias, taking the difficult humanitarian situation caused by the takfiri terrorist groups in various Syrian cities to direct baseless accusations against Syrian government.  In fact, the UN affiliated bodies have been a part of a group led by some influential members in the UN Security Council for accusing Syrian government and putting further pressure on it.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay has been submitting biased and incomplete reports at the UN Security Council on situation in Syria.  Pillay’s accusations against the Syrian government about human rights violations are false lacking credibility because Pillay have not visited Syria from the very beginning of the crisis.

All the reports submitted by Pillay have ignored a very important issue that constitutes the core of the crisis, namely the existence of takfiri groups that have been committing heinous massacres and crimes against innocent civilians in Syria and didn’t mention terrorist acts committed by armed terrorist groups against Syrian people and infrastructure.

Pillay didn’t touch on significant information unveiled by the US writer Hersh on the direct involvement of Turkish government in the use of chemical weapon in Damascus Countryside in 2013.  Pillay had also scaled down all information presented by Syrian government and didn’t consider information presented by the UN agencies in Damascus about the export of terrorists to Syria from more than 83 states and providing them with arms and money to carry out massacres against Syrian people and the infrastructure of the country.

Pillay has been presenting biased reports and manipulating the truth as she avoided to talk about these facts and only wanted to accuse the Syrian government which is outside her mandate. More than 500 letters were sent on behalf of Syrian government to the UN but they didn’t read these letters and didn’t listen to Syrian official statements. What Pilay does is a part of the pre-planned campaign which aims at accusing Syrian government.

The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos also presented biased reports when she used the term “armed opposition” in the report to refer to organizations that the UN Security Council designated as terrorist groups. Amos had submitted a report in which she said “armed opposition” groups targeted infrastructures and destroyed facilities in Syria in a spate of attacks against civilians that have increased recently. Her report is full of “dangerous fallacies and gaps.

The reports also touch on issues that go beyond their mandate. Amos’s recent report on the humanitarian situation in Syria touched on the issue of presidential elections in Syria which has nothing to do with the humanitarian situation.

It was  an obvious contradiction the failure of the report to provide verified information about the presence of non-Syrian fighters and their activities in Syria despite hundreds of letters that the Syrian government has sent to the UN Secretary General and the UN Security Council, not to mention many western reports and statements that unveiled important information in this regard.

The report, furthermore, ignores the root cause behind the worsening humanitarian situation in Syria which is the escalating terrorist activities. Terrorist groups have targeted civilian areas, displaced the locals, destroyed infrastructures and damaged the states’ service institutions citing a need to address terrorism as being the root cause of humanitarian crisis in some hot spots in Syria.

The report should have clearly named the countries supporting terrorism, including Israel, Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The fact that the report has refrained from mentioning that some countries had imposed illegal unilateral measures against the Syrian people is yet another paradox which exposed the double standards of some UN secretariat’s officials. Since the outset of the crisis in Syria, there has been a close offensive alliance among Turkish, Israeli, Qatari and Saudi authorities for sending takfiri terrorists to Syria to commit terrorist acts against Syrian people.

The reports have also ignored an important fact represented by the huge funds and lethal weapons provided to terrorist groups by some countries which pretend care for the Syrian people.

The reports have ignored the primary reason behind a worsening of humanitarian situation in Syria, namely, the escalating terrorist attacks. Handling the crisis in Syria cannot be done through humanitarian assistance only, because there is a pressing need to tackle the root cause of the problem being foreign-backed terrorism which threatens the whole world.
