Belgian Report: Five Thousands Europeans Joined Terrorists in Syria, Iraq

The French TTA weekly bulletin  which tackles strategic news in  the Middle East confirmed  that between 4 to 5 thousand European nationals are taking part , within  the Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq,  in bloody  attacks under the name of ” Jihad ” .

In its today ‘s edition, the bulletin said, according to a report prepared by the Belgian intelligence that ” among those is a  Belgian group of Flemish origins who converted to Islam behind several bloody attacks carried out during the past few weeks in Iraq.”

The Belgian intelligence report  explained that about 200 people carrying the Belgian passport are  currently fighting in Syria and Iraq.

The report revealed that the  5,000 ” volunteers ” carrying  passports  of European countries signatory to the  Schengen Convention , which permits  the abolition of border controls between the participating countries and avails  EU citizens to move between Member States without a visa .

Meantime, the French  Le Journal du Dimanche  newspaper warned against the  increase in the numbers of European terrorists going to Syria under the name of Jihad, arguing that this makes the task of the European security services more difficult.

Noteworthy,  that the International Centre for the Study of extremism in Britain revealed in a recent report that about 18 percent of foreign terrorists in Syria came from Western Europe , especially from  France  and  Britain , warning against  the danger of those terrorists on European security in the event of their return to their countries  of origin.
