Because of economic policies of Erdogan’s regime, 14.4% of Turks are below the poverty line

Reports issued by the Turkish Statistics Authority revealed that the proportion of Turks in debt increased to 71.1 percent, in addition to an increase in the percentage of people below the poverty line in Turkey to 14.4 %.

The Turkish Zaman newspaper quoted reports as stating that the total number of people below the poverty line in Turkey rose to 11 million and 641 thousand, an increase of 550 thousand just during the last year, 14.4 percent of the population.

It was reported that the percentage of the population who have debts and installments rose from 59.4% to 71.1% in the past ten years, as 59 million 123 thousand people suffer under the burden of debts and installments.

Reports indicated that the percentage of housing unit owners decreased to 58.8% last year, from 61.1% in 2014.

It is noteworthy that the Turkish regime suffers from successive economic crises, as the Turkish currency continues to deteriorate due to the deteriorating political and security conditions in Turkey, especially during the recent period. The deteriorating situation comes as a result of the repressive measures practiced by the regime of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which led to economic repercussions, including the decline in tourism and investments and the decline in the country’s income from foreign cash.
