BASP Forum in Aleppo discusses culture’s role in confronting war on Syria

Head of the Arab Writers Union in Syria Dr. Nedal al-Saleh has underscored that culture plays key role in creating a cohesive society to confront the global war on Syria.

His remark was made during the Forum of the Baath Arab Socialist Party (BASP) held yesterday in Aleppo city under the title ” the role of culture and media in building awareness to confront the war on Syria”

Dr. al-Saleh called for drawing up a national project for media and culture and to translate it into action, according to the official news agency (SANA), which quoted the Secretary of the BASP’s Aleppo branch Ahmas Ibrahim as saying that the Syrian army’s victories should be accompanied by political victories and media plan that serve the homeland and its just causes.

On his part, the reporter Fouad Ezmerli underlined the need to set up a television channel in Aleppo city to convey the reality about what is going on in the city.

Following the forum, Dr. al-Saleh discussed with the council of the Arab Writers Union’s Aleppo branch and the Directorate of Culture the ways of protecting the national cultural identity and holding cultural activities to confront the Wahhabi thinking that threatens the Syrian society.

The discussion also dealt with the importance of disseminating awareness among the people about the war being waged on the country.

Over the past few months, Aleppo city has witnessed daily fierce mortar and rocket attacks launched by foreign-backed terrorist groups holed up in several quarters in the same city.

The terror attacks killed dozens of civilians and wounded hundreds, including women and children, according to media reports.
