Basic services and 60,000 people have returned to Al-Mayadeen city in Deir Ezzour

The city of Al-Mayadeen, which is located in the heart of the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzour, has recovered after the restoration of all basic services and the return of the people to their houses and villages that were liberated from terrorist groups in late 2017.

In statements to the correspondent of the Syrian News Agency (SANA), Head of the city council, Thaer Al-Ali, said that most of the city’s residents have returned to their houses and work.

Over 60,000 people are living now in the city and all basic services have been provided to them.

The government institutions are activated, rubble is removed, streets are opened, and the sewage network plus a number of streets and parks and squares are under reconstruction.

He pointed out that the area was supplied with electricity  at the end of 2018 with a capacity of 20 MVA.

Al-Ali noted that two halls belonging to the Syrian Trading Corporation in Deir Ezzour were opened in the city of Al-Mayadeen and they are provided with food and subsidized items to be distributed through the electronic card.

There are two public bakeries and 4 private ones that produce about 20 tons per day in Al-Mayadeen.

Al-Ali pointed out that the second health center in the city of Al-Mayadin was put into service, which is an advanced center equipped with a gynecological surgery vehicle and an ambulance.

“Al-Taybeh Health Center, which provide health services and vaccinations to citizens, was also put into service. The city is also provided with a number of mobile clinics,” he clarified.

Head of education complex in Al-Mayadeen, Arrak Al-Ahmad, said that the educational process is going well  as the number of schools opened last year reached 61 schools for various stages, in addition to two vocational high schools. The total number of students in the city reached 22,000 students.

Head of the Field Agriculture Department, Eng. Faisal Hammad confirmed the improvement of the agriculture production after the government provided all the production requirements of seeds, fertilizers and water for irrigation.

A number of Al-Mayadeen residents praised the government’s efforts to provide basic services and activate service departments and institutions, stressing that their city has recovered thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab Army.
