Babis calls upon the European Union to communicate with the Syrian state instead of imposing unilateral coercive measures
Prague, ST- Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis called upon the European Union (EU) to communicate with the Syrian state in order to solve the crisis in Syria instead of imposing unilateral coercive measures against it.
In a statement followed talks which he had held in New York on the sidelines of the meetings of the UN General Assembly with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem, Babis affirmed the importance of listening to all parties, noting that the EU has imposed unilateral corrective measures on Syria in a time when it should make contacts with it.
Babis added that the Czech Republic is the only state from the European Union states whose embassy has remained open in Damascus.
During his meeting with Minister Walid al-Moallem, Babis reiterated his country’s stance which calls for finding a political solution that restores security and stability to Syria and preserves its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
