MINSK, (ST)- President Alexander Lukashinko of Belarus has stressed his country’s readiness to contribute to reconstruction process in Syria and to carry out joint infrastructure and economic projects.
He made the remarks during his meeting on Thursday with Mansour Azzam, Syria’s Minister of Presidential Affairs, who, in turn, conveyed a message from President Bashar Al-Assad to President Lukashinko dealing with bilateral ties.
Azzam expressed President Al-Assad’s appreciation over Belarus’s support for Syria in its war on terrorism, stressing the good relations linking between Syria and Belarus and between the presidents of the two countries.
The Belarusian president described Azzam’s visit to Minsk as very useful in order to get acquainted with developments in Syria from a Syrian source and with the situation of the Syrian people.
The two sides, discussed enhancing cooperation in different fields and prospects of joint work to carry out infrastructure and economic projects in Syria, especially as Belarus has got outstanding experience in building important facilities like schools, hospitals and roads which Syria need in the reconstruction era.
Azzam talked about the situation in Syria and the damage caused to the country’s infrastructure because of terrorist attacks, calling on Belarus to take part in what terrorism has destroyed.
Talks also dealt with joint humanitarian projects, like receiving some Syrian injured children to have treatment in Belarus and helping a number of Syrian students complete their studies in Belarusian education facilities.
