Cairo (ST): The Syrian Minister of Religious endowments, Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Sattar al-Sayed, visited the Sheikhdom of Al-Azhar in Cairo, and discussed with the Undersecretary of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Rahman al-Duwaini, academic and religious cooperation and joint efforts between the two countries to confront intellectual deviation.
The Minister of Religious Endowments affirmed that Syria is recovering and overcoming the ordeal created by the movements of extremism and political Islam that offend Islam and the homelands, and which the religious institutions in Syria and Egypt alike confront.
Dr. Al-Sayed stressed that the message of moderation cannot rise and spread except by coordinating efforts between the two wings of the nation, Syria and Egypt, especially since the religious institutions in them are the most ancient and worthy in the Islamic world.
Dr. Al-Sayed gave an explanation about the reality and development of religious work in Syria in the areas of guidance, counseling, Sharia education, teaching the Holy Qur’an and jurisprudence through the Jurisprudential Scientific Council, and about electronic monitoring, training of imams and preachers, and the development of laws.
