Awareness activities for the Environment Directorate in Damascus Governorate at the Flower Fair

Damascus (ST): The Environment Directorate in Damascus Governorate is carrying out a series of awareness activities aimed at preserving the environment and protecting it from pollution as part of the 43rd session of the Flower Fair.

In this regard, the Directorate allocated within its pavilion a corner to display products made from environmental waste through recycling, such as cardboard, papers, and plastic materials, and another corner for handicrafts, drawing, and works for children.A third corner concerned with educating children about how and why agriculture is important, in addition to a fourth corner dedicated to teaching them some traditional crafts, as well as competitions and lectures on environmental awareness, according to Eng. Talaat Harb, Assistant Director of Environment in Damascus Governorate.

Harb indicated in a statement that participation in the Fair comes within the framework of the preservation plan that is developed at the beginning of each year to raise media awareness and deliver specific messages to children and parents, including the need to preserve the environment by benefiting from waste through recycling and instilling culture and environmental awareness.

In her turn, Mervat Haj Ali, the supervisor of the environmental club at the Environment Directorate, explained that participating in the flower Fair is to enhance awareness about environmental concepts for all visitors of the pavilion, especially children who spend long hours daily drawing and practicing various environmental activities, which contributes to enhancing their positive behaviors and learning new things such as making use of paper and cardboard in the manufacture of useful things through recycling.
