Awaqaf Minister Conveys President Al-Assad’s Condolences to Patriarch Youhanna X Yazigi on his Mother’s Demise

LATTAKIA, (ST) Delegated by President Bashar Al-Assad, Minister of Awqaf (Islamic Trusts) Mohammad Abdul Sattar Al-Sayyed visited Mar Jourjous Cathedral in Lattakia to convey President Al-Assad ‘s condolences to Patriarch Youhanna X Yazigi of Antioch and All East for Greek Orthodox on the Passing away of his mother.

Following the funeral prayers led by Patriarch Yazigi, Minister al-Sayyed extended President Al-Assad’s condolences to the patriarch and his family.

 The demised mother is also the mother of archbishop Boulos Yazigi, one of the two archbishops kidnapped by the terrorist organizations in Aleppo three years ago.

 Minister Al-Sayyed said “Syria, where churches and mosques embraces each other and where Moslems and Christians shared building civilizations, will continue to be immune against all forces of terrorism. It is the cradle of Christianity and tolerant moderate Islam.”

On his part, Patriarch Yazigi expressed his gratitude for President Al-Assad’s generous gesture and hoped that Syria will restore security after it gets rid of terrorism.
