Austrian parties call for a halt of arms exports to the Turkish regime

Head of the Austrian Freedom Party Norbert Hoover called on the international community to stop all arms exports to the Turkish regime because of its aggression on Syrian territory.

Hoover, in a statement quoted by the Austrian news agency, called on the international community to stop the Turkish aggression on Syrian territory, which is in violation of the international law and to ensure the cessation of all arms shipments to Turkey.

Hoover pointed out that Austria stopped arms shipments to Turkey in November 2016.

France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Finland have suspended the export of any new arms shipments to the Turkish regime following its aggression on Syrian territory.

In turn, the Neo-Party stressed that Austria shoulders the responsibility in line with the EU position against Turkish aggression, calling for monitoring and imposing joint restrictions on the export of European weapons to the Turkish regime.

“We must make sure that no country in the European Union is supplying more weapons to Turkey,” said Foreign Policy Spokeswoman Stephanie Kreisber.

The UNSC ‘s five European members – France, Germany, Belgium, Britain and Poland – demanded last Thursday the Turkish regime to stop its aggression on Syrian territory, pointing out that this aggression would  facilitate the resurgence of the terrorist organization of Daesh again, which poses a major threat to regional, international and European security.
