Austria to keep its Unit within UNDOF

VIENNA,(ST)_ Austria ‘s State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Reinhold Lubatka expressed  his country’s desire to keep the Austrian unit operating within the UN Disengagement  Observer Forces UNDOF in the Golan , according to the international mandate entrusted to it.

In a statement issued by the Austrian Foreign  Ministry on Wednesday Lubatka said:  ” the Austrian forces stationed in the Golan Heights will remain on top of their work as long as they are able to carry out its functions by the international mandate entrusted to it.”

On the other hand, the Austrian official indicated the need to provide more humanitarian aid to the displaced Syrians , so as to maintain  stability  in Syria and neighboring countries, considering  this issue as a big challenge for the international community.

For his part, the Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Hbindalegr called on Syria ‘s  neighboring countries to provide urgent humanitarian assistance for the displaced Syrians .

In a statement posted on the Austrian Foreign Ministry e-mail, the Austrian FM said that the  ” Austrian government approved extra  humanitarian aid to alleviate the crisis of displaced Syrians at a value of  million euros through the UN,  Austrian  humanitarian organizations, and the Austrian aid fund for disasters.”
