Austria Reiterated Political Solution to Syria Crisis
VIENNA,(ST)_ Austria ‘s vice-chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Hbindalegr renewed his country ‘s position provides for finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria and the need to hold an urgent meeting for the international conference on Syria in Geneva.
In a statement posted on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hbindalegr stressed the need for continued international efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
In May, Hbindalegr reiterated in a statement to AP his country ‘s rejection to the proposal made by some EU countries to lift a ban on arming the Syrian opposition, warning that the flow of arms to Syria would lead to aggravation of the conflict and threaten the initiative made by Russia and the US to hold an international conference on Syria increase differences inside the UN Council Security Council on how to work together on resolving the crisis in Syria.
