Austria provides humanitarian aid worth 3 million euros to those affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey
On February 15th, the Austrian government announced the provision of 3 million euros from the Foreign Disaster Fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to those affected by the earthquake that struck Syria and Turkey recently.
The Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “The provision of rapid humanitarian assistance and support in disaster operations has become more important now, so Austria will distribute three million euros from the disaster fund to relief organizations there.”
In turn, Austrian Vice Chancellor Werner Kugler said: “We stand by the affected people in Syria and Turkey in this difficult situation, as the scale of destruction is also evident in northwestern Syria and southeastern Turkey.”
He expressed his concern about reports of earthquakes there.
For his part, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said that out of 3 million euros, 2 million euros will go to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and one million euros to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
