VIENNA-Austria’s Secretary General for Foreign Affairs, Michael Linhart has warned against the danger of the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) on the entire world and stressed that international cooperation is an urgent need to eliminate this terrorist organization.
Interviewed by an Austrian newspaper, Linhart said “ISIL terrorists kill without discrimination and many of their victims are Moslems”.
He added that “the Arab and Islamic world poses no threat to Europe, but an extremist terrorist group, like the ISIL, is a big challenge to all.”
On the kidnapping of an Austrian oil expert in Libya by ISIL, Linhart said that Austria will reject any blackmail attempt in case the terrorist organization asks for ransom, pointing out that his country will seek solving the problem through negotiations.
He denied that the Austrian authorities have got any information on whether the Austrian oil expert is still alive or was executed by the ISIL.
Last week, ISIL terrorists abducted nine foreign workers after an attack on a Libyan oil field. 11 Libyans were killed in the attack.
