Austrian Foreign Minister Magnus Brunner on Saturday warned that ban on gas imports from Russia will harm Austria’s economy.
In an interview with the American “CNN” Network, Brunner said his country would not support a possible embargo on Russian gas because it would harm Vienna more than Moscow.
Last week, Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said the ban on Russian gas would not be supported by Austria, Germany and Hungary.
“Once the sanctions hit you more than the sanctioned party, I think then there won’t be much benefit,” Brunner told CNN.
He added that Austria had no choice because the country’s economy is highly dependent on Russian gas.
