At least 59 people were killed and over 170 were injured in an explosion at a mosque in the city of Peshawar, not far from Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan, according to news agency.
The agency said on Monday citing local authorities that at least 150 injured people were hospitalized.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Geo TV channel reported that the blast took place during the noon prayer at the mosque where a lot of people had gathered. A suicide bomber struck inside the mosque.
Authorities in Peshawar have declared a medical emergency in all hospitals in the city, and have ordered rescue agencies to step up their relief efforts.
