Astana process to solving crisis in Syria is an important step to ensure the security and stability of the region, Iranian Foreign Ministry says

TEHRAN, (ST) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi emphasized that the Astana Process is still the most important political process for solving the Syrian crisis.

Mousavi said in a press conference that the foreign ministers of the guarantors’ states of the Astana process “Iran, Russia and Turkey” recently emphasized the importance of the continuation of the Astana meetings, expressing his hope that a meeting of guarantor countries will be held in Tehran at the end of the crisis of the spread of Corona virus.

 

 “The Astana meeting which were expected to be held in Tehran were postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak, but it does not mean that our consultations in this regard have been disrupted”, Mousavi added.

In another context, Mousavi pointed out that America exited the nuclear agreement between Iran and the international community and violated UN Resolution 2231 and therefore is no longer a member of this agreement to impose its conditions on it, stressing that America will not succeed in its new steps by seeking to make itself a new partner in the nuclear agreement.

Mousavi pointed out that some countries want to disrupt the air and relations between the countries of the region, explaining that some marginal events are being exaggerated are intended to adversely influence the bilateral relations between Iran and its neighbors.

On the other hand, Mousavi announced that President Hassan Rouhani will participate today through a video conference in the Non-Aligned Summit, which will be held in the Azerbaijani capital with the participation of 46 heads of state of the organization, indicating that the summit will discuss the issue of facing the spread of the Corona virus.
