Asghar Khaji to Pedersen: The necessity of confronting terrorism and respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria

Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji, affirmed that the positive developments in the relations of Arab countries with Syria are in the interest and security of the peoples of the region. 

During talks in Tehran today with Geir Pedersen, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, Asghar Khaji stressed the need to confront the phenomenon of terrorism, and to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria.

In turn, Pedersen, who is visiting Iran as part of his regional consultations, presented a report on some of the measures taken regarding Syria, including the “step for step” initiative to resolve the crisis there.

During this meeting, they reviewed the latest developments in the Syrian arena, especially the recent quartet meeting in Moscow, which brought together the foreign ministers of Syria, Iran, Russia and Turkey.
