Asaad Smouqan participating in Ukrainian Artisticexhibition

Mohammad Asaad Smouqan, is  an artist who is always keen to display different artworks. In his opinion art should be a visual aesthetic condition, even if it surpasses the semantic aspect. He believes that color has a role in discovering the form and not in covering it. In this regard, Smouqan said:

My last participation was in the first Syrian plastic exhibition in Ukraine, in which twenty Syrian artists took part.My partaking was with a work measuring 50 x 70 cm, oil colors;entitled”Contemporary Myths” which was inspired from Ugarit legends.

The painting is a love scene, and it may be seen as a conflict scene between good and evil, between life and death, so the painting is made of several scenes, which collectively form the body of the canava, where the place is the body of the painting, and time is the fertile history of the Syrian legend.

Smouqan added:“I was pleased to participate with a group of Syrian artists, where each of them has a distinguished presence in the Syrian artistic scene. The exposition was accompanied  with the screening of a film by director Sumer Agha, under the title “Above the Earth”;prepared by the Syrian sculptor Afif Agha and film director Sumer Agha, made to show the civilized face of Syria in fine arts and cinema.
