The “Syrian Miniatures” painting by the plastic artist Fareed Shinkan is one of the distinguished artworks that were displayed within the Syrian group exhibition currently held in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev. It clearly shows his deep and rich experience in the traditional Damascene arts, such as miniatures, arabesques, and Ajami.
Regarding his participation, the artist Shinkan said in a statement to SANA: “The artwork he participated with is entitled Syrian miniatures.” It measures 70 x 50 cm.He uses acrylic technology on canvas. He indicated that this exhibition is the second for them as Syrian artists in Ukraine after the plastic exhibition held by the officials of the Syrian community in Ukraine online last year for a group of Syrian artists.
Shinkan stressed that the exhibition is a real opportunity to introduce the contemporary Syrian plastic art in Ukraine and to create cultural communication relations between Syrian artists and the Ukrainian people, especially the Syrian community there, indicating that such exhibitions are important to break the siege on Syria and give a luminous picture of Syrian plastic art and culture to the whole world.
Shinkan pointed out that he chose to participate in the exhibition with the “Syrian miniatures” painting, as it shows the details of the Syrian heritage, where the painting contains houses, decorations and local dress in addition to symbolic expressionism, which he adopted as a plastic art method in creating and composing the painting. He considered his participation in the exhibition as a representation of his homeland, Syria, the cradle of civilization and his people who are the creators of art and beauty.
It is worth mentioning that the exhibition is held as part of a cultural event organized by the Syrian Honorary Consulate in the capital, Kiev, in cooperation with the Syrian community in Ukraine and under the supervision of the sculptor Afif Agha, on the anniversary of the founding of the Syrian Arab Army.
