Artist Ahmed Qassem’s exhibition presents paintings that embody beauty of Arabic letters

The exhibition of the plastic artist and calligrapher Ahmed Qassem, entitled “Horizons of the Arabic Letter,” included 30 paintings in which he was inspired by the Arabic letter, and showcased its diversity through a group of artistic lines, in Al-Assad Gallery of Fine Arts.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, the calligrapher Qassem stated that the Arabic letter is the main element in the painting. His goal is to restore the brilliance and interest in this letter, which is the heritage of the ancestors. He indicated that he worked on the variety of calligraphies such as Al-Thuluth, Al-Diwani, Al-Kufi and the simple one.

Dr. Mahmoud Akam praised the efforts of the artist Qassem in preserving the beauty of the Arabic letter and developing it in a world that is witnessing rapid changes. He noted that this exhibition served the interest of the Arabic language because it is concerned with the letter, and the letter is the basis of the language, so caring for the language means caring for the thought.

Calligrapher Muhammad Zaki Mawlawi said that the artist Qassem presented a unique collection of art that reflects his creative journey and his exceptional skill in calligraphy and design.

Calligrapher Osama Radwan pointed out that the exhibition combined modernity with the originality of the Arabic letter.

The exhibition was accompanied by a symposium on Arabic calligraphy and calligraphy paintings, which helped the audience to get acquainted with these works of art and learn about the world of Arabic letters in their various forms and styles.
