Paris (ST): The French police arrested dozens of protesters who clashed with them during mass demonstrations in the country today, denouncing the economic policies of the French government.
The France-Press Agency reported that various French cities witnessed widespread protests today in demand of an increase in wages and in denunciation of the government’s policy towards workers.
The French Ministry of the Interior revealed that the authorities arrested 11 people in the French capital, adding that 107,000 people nationwide responded to the protest call by political parties in the capital.
Inter-provincial trains were nearly halved as several unions called a nationwide strike amid anger over inflation that France has not seen in decades, as well as the extension of weeks-long labor strikes at oil refineries to other economic sectors.
