Damascus (ST) – Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous heads the Syrian delegation participating in the Global Climate Action Summit, which will be held on the first and second days of next December in Dubai, UAE, as part of the 28th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) (COP28).
The Syrian delegation comprises the Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh, and a number of specialists in the fields of environment, water and agricultural research.
During its participation in the summit sessions, the Syrian delegation presents a number of working papers and visions related to confronting environmental challenges and the need to intensify efforts and international cooperation to confront climate change and the challenges resulting from its effects on agricultural production, water and livelihoods.
Syria’s participation in the (COP-28) reflects its commitment to all international environmental agreements and treaties that it has ratified, out of its belief that the environment is the responsibility of all countries.
