Arnous and Tehran Mayor hold talks on Cooperation Between Syria and Iranian Provinces

The Prime Minister of the caretaker government Hussein Arnous stressed during his meeting yesterday with Tehran Mayor Ali Reza Zakani, the need to benefit from the experiences of the administration of local councils in the two countries. They stressed and the importance of discussing the development policies followed by the provinces and cities in Syria and Iran and the need to benefit from the successful experiences to contribute to improving the Economic, Service and development situation.

Arnous explained that the Syrian Government pays full attention and care to the governorates and local councils and ensures that they can fulfil their economic and social role, institutionalize administrative decentralization and enable them to manage their affairs flexibly.

He spoke about the importance of establishing joint cooperation projects between the governorates of the two countries in a number of areas, including waste recycling and treatment projects, renewable energy projects, internal transport, and joint tourism projects, especially as Damascus Governorate enjoys wide investment opportunities.

The prime minister stressed the importance of the business sector, the private sector and charities in the provinces to be part of the government movement and to complete the joint government efforts in the two countries.

Zakani stressed the strong relations between the two friendly countries and peoples and the need to work to strengthen them in various sectors in order to contribute to socio-economic development and reconstruction, and to achieve a kind of integration to meet common challenges and overcome difficulties.

He noted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the municipality of Tehran and the governorates of Damascus and Damascus Countryside and opening new prospects for such cooperation to promote urban development, establish joint projects and invest the possibilities available to both sides.
