Army’s Recent Victories Uncover Washington-Led Coalition’s False Claims about Fighting Terrorism

DAMASCUUS, (ST)– Speaker of the people’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham has stressed that the Syrian Arab Army’s recent victories have proved the false claims of the US-led coalition about fighting terrorism and about implementing relevant international resolutions.

Al-Lahham made the remarks during his meeting with an Iranian parliamentary delegation led by Chairman of the Council and Internal Affairs Committee of the Iranian Shura Council Amir Khojasteh.

“The victories of the Syrian army over takfiri terrorist organizations have undermined Daesh capabilities and opened the way to clearing the entire Syrian territory of takfiri terrorism,” al-Lahham said.

“The achievements have also provided facilitations to make progress in the process of political solution based on intra-Syrian dialogue aiming to build Syria’s future with the participation of all Syrian parties,” he added.

He highly appreciated Iran’s continuous political, economic and military support for Syria in confrontation of terrorism.

On his part, Khojasteh hailed the Syrian army’s achievements in its war against terrorist organizations most recent of which was Palmyra victory which he described as a historic achievement that will have positive impacts on ground.

Khojasteh reiterated his country’s keenness on providing all forms of support to Syria until it achieves complete victory over terrorism and takfirism.

Later, the Iranian guest delegation and members of the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee at the Syrian People’s Assembly held talks on ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation and ways to coordinate stances at international forums.

The Iranian delegation also had a meeting with Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi.

Talks dealt with prospects of cooperation in all fields and with the role Iranian companies can play in Syria’s reconstruction process through carrying out investment projects and rehabilitating some sectors hugely damaged by terrorism.

Premier al-Halqi stressed that joint Syrian-Iranian action at all levels has contributed to enhancing the axis of resistance in the face of the Zionist-American schemes in the region.

On his part, Khojasteh said he was confident that the Syrians will defeat the terrorists and rebuild their country without foreign dictates or interference.
