Army liberates more villages in Idleb countryside

IDLEB, (ST)- The Syrian Arab Army has intensified its operations against terrorist organizations in the southeastern countryside of Idleb and managed to liberate more villages after inflicting heavy losses upon the terrorists.

SANA reporter said that a few hours ago the army units, deployed at Abu al-Duhour axis, engaged in fierce clashes with the terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra and their affiliated groups which exploited the weather conditions and thick fog to infiltrate into some army positions and attack servicemen. The army units managed to repel the attack and continued its progress which resulted in the liberation of the villages and farms of Hilban, Samaka, Tal Khatra, Khirbet Nawaf in the direction of Abu al-Dhour-Ma’aret al-Nu’man.   

 The reporter added that the clashes led to the elimination of a number of terrorists, injuring others and destroying their weapons, while the rest fled towards Ma’aret al-Nu’man.

On Tuesday, the Army General Command announced that the army units liberated an area of over 320 square km and reestablished control over more than 40 villages and towns in the southern countryside of Idleb after driving out the terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra and other groups from the area.
