Army Continues National Task to Clear Syrian Cities from Terrorists, Mercenaries

PROVINCES, (ST)- Within the framework of their national task to rid Syria from terrorists and mercenaries and to restore security and stability to the country,  the Syrian army forces continued to pursuit armed terrorist groups in several areas countrywide.

Aleppo and its countryside witnessed qualitative operations carried out by the Syrian Arab Army who inflicted heavy losses among terrorist groups. The army units destroyed terrorists’ hideouts and gatherings in Aleppo’s countryside areas of Daret Ezza, al-Maslameya, Handarat, Hreitan, al-Zirbeh, Qibtan al-Jabal, Mare’, Kafr Da’el and al-Safeera, killing and wounding many terrorists. The army also destroyed eight cars usually used by terrorists in their criminal operations in Tal Rahhal area.

The city of Aleppo also witnessed clashes between army units and terrorist groups whose hideouts were destroyed in Bani Zeid, Masaken Hanano and Old Aleppo areas.  Alaa al-Za’eem, leader of a terrorist group, was killed along with his group’s members in Castello area. The army also destroyed a rocket launcher in Bistan al-Basha and targeted a terrorist gathering in Layramoun.

On the other hand, terrorist groups shelled al-Neel Street in Aleppo claiming the lives of at least nine citizens including children. Injuries and material damages were also reported.

An official source told SANA reported in Aleppo that competent authorities immediately clashed with the terrorists and inflicted heavy losses among them.

In Damascus Country side, the army forces continued to chase terrorists and mercenaries, killing a number of them in Dareyya.

While pursuing terrorist groups, the army forces found a factory for manufacturing explosive devices near al-Furn Roundabout in Dareyya, an official source told SANA.

The source said, the army forces foiled a terrorist attempt to detonate two explosive devices in the Cornice area in Dareyya. One of them weighs 30 kg while the other is 50kg.

According to another source, the army forces attacked several terrorist hideouts in Douma and Haratsa, killing a number of terrorists including groups’ leaders and five snipers. Their ammunition and weapons were confiscated.

The army forces clashed with terrorists in Shab’a area, killing and wounding many of them. They also destroyed a van carrying weapons, ammunition and terrorists nears Aqraba.

In Homs countryside, the mercenaries’ hideouts in al-Rastan, Talbiseh and Taldaou were the target of the army operations. Many terrorists were killed and twelve cars, some of them were equipped with machineguns and some others were usually used by terrorists to convey weapons and ammunition were destroyed.

Meanwhile, a Homs governorate source told SANA that clashes between army forces and a terrorist group in Jouret al-Shayyah district resulted in the killing and wounding of many terrorists including a sniper and a machinegun shooter.

On the other hand, a military source denied news claiming that a massacre was committed in Aqrab area in Homs.

In Idleb, the army units carried out several qualitative operations in the areas of Sarmeen, Jisr al-Shoghour, al-Hamedeya and Ma’aret al-Nou’man, destroying armed groups’ hideouts, inflicting heavy losses among terrorists and confiscating the weapons and ammunition they got.

Clashes also took place between army units and a terrorist group trying to attack a military checkpoint in Ariha. Four terrorists were killed and many others were wounded.
